People often ask me how I managed to accumulate such wealth in my Self Managed Superannuation fund at such a relatively young age. I always reply the same....I was lucky enough to be with a progressive accounting firm in my twenties who recognised that I was building a successful business and counselled me on the importance of having enough Superannuation for my retirement.
I remember sitting with Bert Snelleman, one of the founders, at the age of 26 and doing the calculations of how much money I would need in my retirement. With his help, advice and business acumen, we commenced the establishment of my Self Managed Superannuation Fund and purchasing not only property but also starting a managed fund through BT.
Snelleman Tom set up the required Property Unit Trusts and did all the compliance for my SMSF. Was it luck?.....well a dear friend recommended Snelleman Tom and I worked closely with Martin Kerrigan. From there, we generated trust.
Today I run a property mentoring business and so many of my clients complain that their Accountants are not progressive or creative. My advice is go to a firm who can offer a multitude of services; who employ talented people and look at the big picture.
